Notes to an unloved one

While I was laying me down to sleep
tucking my mind deep in the shadows,
facts broadsided me,
shit only you and I know.
You pushed me over the line
laughed at my back and stole my clothes
walked over into this crime scene
wishing I knew where the remote was
to change the fucking channel,
get a whiff of a new buzz.
Walking to the 7-11 in the rain
bringing you back a new attitude
wrapped in a brown paper sack
You always forgot the change.
While I'm praying for the lord
to go ahead and take my soul
a world is watching with comic intent
the life and times of this patchwork kid
blasted on the small screen
thrown across plenty of newsprint.
Trying to make sure they get
their honest american monies worth.

My fairy tale turned dyslexic
My birthday candle canceled my wish
Final curtain is up around the bend
Hell is coming and heaven is falling down
to play where people are real
everyone tires of perfection.
